Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District Grant

Last spring, Rock Creek Elementary School was awarded nearly $5000 to refurbish the garden with generous grant money from the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District. More information about the Tualatin Watershed Improvement Grant (TWIG) can be found here. Grant money will be used to:

  • purchase a greenhouse kit for year-round garden projects
  • create a level gravel walkway and base for the greenhouse for wheelchair accessibility
  • furnish an additional two raised garden beds for students using wheelchairs
  • supply the garden area with kid-friendly tools, shovels, a hose, and other new gardening items
  • renovate the two wooden picnic tables that had fallen into disrepair

We will be posting volunteer opportunities soon, including:

  • greenhouse build days (August, 2025)
  • weeding and watering needs (August – December, 2025)
  • garden club volunteer opportunities (fall and spring)

The Zaile greenhouse we purchased is shown below. (Photo is for illustrative purposes only.)
